Lunettes de soleil ♥♥♥

Should we thank the Inuit, the early Roman or the Chinese for the world's first sunglasses ? Sunglasses have sure come a long way!

Inuit people wore flat ivory "glasses," that was created from bone, leather or wood with small slits see through in order to block the bright spring sunlight. This example was made from walrus ivory and dates back to between 1200 AD / 1600 AD. They are now in the collection of the Canadian Museum of Civilization.

There is a rumor that the Roman emperor Nero enjoyed watching gladiator fights through polished gems.

In China, sunglasses were used in the twelfth century or even earlier.
Chinese judges used the smoky quartz glasses to hide their facial expressions when they interrogated witnesses.

Sunglasses then became THE popular item that they are today when Sam Foster introduced them to America in 1929. He sold his sunglasses on the boardwalk of the Atlantic City and the New Jersey beaches! It only took a few Famous movie stars and sexy musicians to wear sunglasses.. it became the "cool" thing to wear, even when not sunny or indoors. In my opinion, you don't look cool wearing sunglasses indoor. You just look confuse!

Some sunglasses that caught my attention:

Fashion was already their exit strategy in life! Then moved to Milan and conquer our fashion-hungry hearts! Yes, Italy over New York city . They wanted to be different and their hard work paid off. Fashion challenging the conventional

Martin Margiela is a Belgian fashion designer, one of my favorite and a very interesting man. He has never been photographed and never given an interview to the press. He now lives in Paris while his collections are produced in Italy. He was selected by Hermes to design for the Parisian fashion house well known for high quality luxury goods and a timeless aesthetic. What else can you expect from 10 years of designing his own collection and several collections under his own name. Fashion challenging the conventional. LOVE HIM!

These 10-inch stiletto heels, created by a London artist/mysterioso were commissioned by the Tate as part of a series of design “responses” to a recent exhibit by Chris Ofili. He is a painter who smeared elephant manure on his controversial 1996 piece, The Holy Virgin Mary. Chris won a Turner Prize with 'The virgin Mary' made up of black porn magazine collage, oil paint, glitter, polyester resin and elephant dung on linen. Manchester born artist Chris Ofili uses very unique mixed media for his art..
