The 2010 Time 100

TIME Magazine’s annual most influential people in the world list. Lady Gaga!! The issue features a great article written by Cyndi Lauper and it I wanted to share with you!!

“I first heard the name Lady Gaga through a mutual friend. He couldn’t stop talking about her. Then I heard her music, and I thought, Wow, I love this kid.

“An artist’s job is to take a snapshot — be it through words or sound, lyrics or song — that explains what it’s like to be alive at that time. Lady Gaga’s art captures the period we’re in right now. These days, you go to a club and wonder who all these kids are. They don’t seem to have jobs. How can they afford to be here? Her song “Beautiful, Dirty, Rich” explains that scene. It’s about the New York prep-school party kids she grew up with. It’s where she came from. Gaga’s lyrics are incredibly literary. When “Bad Romance” starts, the music grabs your ear immediately. Then she opens with the line “I want your ugly/ I want your disease,” and all of a sudden you’re listening. Most of the stuff on the radio is not very clever, but Gaga presents her ideas in a sophisticated manner. She has an incredible pop sensibility.

People forget how young she is. She is barely 24 — much younger than I was when I became famous. It’s very tough being where she is right now. People are pulling her in all different directions. It’s hard to navigate that. Try to imagine what you were like at her age, if you still can. I can’t wait to see how she grows and what she decides her next act will be. She only has two albums out, but already she is inspiring other artists to go further in their own work.

“When I see somebody like Gaga, I sit back in admiration. I’m inspired to pick up the torch again myself. I did an interview with her once, and she showed up with a sculpture on her head. I thought, How awesome. Being around her, I felt like the dust was shaken off of me. I find it very comforting to sit next to somebody and not have to worry that I look like the freak. She isn’t a pop act, she is a performance artist. She herself is the art. She is the sculpture.”

10,000 steps a day!

Every day is the same dilemma.. Heels or Chucks Taylor ? It is no secret that high heel shoes have been linked to a range of problems - from corns to schizophrenia!! Woman have about four times as many foot problems as men do. Also, the pain can be worse for women who are overweight, have arthritis, or have a high/flat arches. In my case, it's arthritis and back problem so I had to think of a solution! Obviously, no one expects ME to completely stop wearing heels!!

Here are a few high heels tips:
  • Limit your wear time for special occasions and for shorter days! Did you know that people take an average of 10,000 steps a day?
  • Wait for the afternoon or at the end of the day to buy shoes.
  • Buy soft, high-quality leather or suede, not synthetics! Patent leather, plastic and fabric doesn't stretch to accommodate the foot.
  • Brake in the shoes by wearing them around the house with thin socks for a few hours daily
  • Wedges and platforms are comfortable but for even more comfort you can ask your shoe repair guy to add rubber soles.
  • Try those Dr.schools insoles. They can make a 3 inch heel feel like a 2 inch heel by distributing stress from your forefoot to the middle of your arch. They are less than $10 and your feet and knee will thank you at the end of the day!
  • Stretching your toes after taking off your shoes can be quite helpful. This helps the circulation to the poor little tootsies that are cramped in your shoes.
  • Stretch your Achilles tendon and calf muscles every day.
  • Try gripping a light towel and holding your foot up. It will strengthen some muscles you used when wearing heels.
  • Give yourself foot massage rolling your feet back and forth over a tennis ball.
Did you know that there is a few studies that suggest that wearing high heels may improve your pelvic floor muscles and boost your sex life!

Eskimo meets Chanel!

Chanel fall winter 2010/2011 collection is preparing us for ice age? Fake fur trousers and yeti boots walked the very famous Grand Palais des Champs Elysées in Paris last month. Karl Lagerfeld imported a 265-tons, 28 feet tall iceberg from Scandinavia for the show and the venue temperature had to be keep at -4ºC!

I cant help from wondering.. what would Gabrielle think about Karl's designs? I don't think she would like all of it but I think she would love the ice-block purse as much as I do!

'Simplicity is the keynote of all true elegance' quoted Coco Chanel.

These shoes ware not made for walking!

Earlier this week, my dear friend Ana send me the link to A Sneak Peak At Alexander McQueen's Fall 2010 Shoes. She did not have to remind me twice!

Did you know that 30% of Manolo Blahnik business comes from the six-inch heels shoes? The customers are buying and designers will soon be offering an 8-inch heels shoe in store near you. Who's up for 8-Inch high heels?
